Description: A hand-written letter to Ada Young from her daughter “Kikik,” detailing her visits to the Alhambra in Paris and the Mozart Palace. Her father, Col. Charles Young was the first African American to reach the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army. In 1918, after being forced into retirement, due to health concerns, he rode on horseback from Wilberforce, Ohio to Washington D.C. to prove his physical fitness for duty. View on Ohio Memory.
