He later played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Boston Americans, the Boston Pilgrims, the Boston Red Sox, the Cleveland Naps (later called the Indians), and the Boston Braves. On May 5, 1904 Young pitched the first no-hitter in American League history in a game against the Philadelphia Athletics. Young won 511 games in his career, and had 15 seasons of 20 wins or more. He pitched and won two games in the first modern World Series. In 1937 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Cy Young Award, given to outstanding pitchers in the American and National Leagues, is named in his honor. View on Ohio Memory.
