Description: Harry Rife of Preble County. Electrocuted January 19, 1910 for the Murder of Mrs. Lydia Gilmore Griswold. Lydia Griswold was employed as the first permanent librarian of the Eaton Library in 1901. According to the news report, Harry Rife, a rejected suitor, shot and killed Griswold in the library in front of her son before attempting to kill himself. The murder was committed on July 8, 1909.
