Description: A four-page handwritten constitution adopted by the Amanda Safety Club, of Amanda, Ohio, adopted on July 24, 1847. The constitution contains a preamble which states the purpose of the club, sixteen articles outlining the rules of the club and expectations of its membership, and the signatures of the five club officers. Members paid annual dues of fifty cents to the club. To protect their own property, members paid "twelve and a half cents additional for each horse mare or gelding, broken to use that he may own."
