Description: Dated ca. 1953, this cotton quilt has four large squares of a red and blue-green applique. The applique center is solid red cotton in a floral shape with eight 5-lobed leaves extending from it. Radiating out from the center are 4 stems, each with 2 pairs of 4-lobed leaves, two pairs of rose buds and at the end of the stem a round rose. Also radiating from the center are four large 11-lobed leaves (at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock). The red, blue-green and white fabrics are all solid colors. Three of the borders are red scallops with the top border straight. The binding is solid red. The back is solid white muslin. The quilting is done in outline, zigzag and diamonds, with a princess feather on the 3 scalloped borders and the roses have quilted centers. View on Ohio Memory.
