Description: Carte de visite of Cpl. Charles W. Athey, who served with Company B of the 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Company B was recruited from Noble and Washington Counties, Ohio. Athey was originally from Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio. He was recruited for a 3-year term at age 18, on October 21, 1861. He was captured at Mark's Mills, Arkansas on April 25, 1864. Appointed to Corporal on February 1st, 1866, and mustered out on March 8th, 1866. View on Ohio Memory.
