Clark County." the date "Nov. 19, 1936" also appears on the back with instructions for photographic printing. The photograph shows a cart, much like a bookmobile, which could be towed by car. A lift-up panel protects the books during travel. Four people pose in front of the vehicle. 1936 saw the library's first bookmobile service in Clark County, with a homemade trailer that could carry 500 books After the Great Depression, the CWA, then the ERA and later the WPA began government sponsored relief efforts to improve library services. Book repairs services and about 2000 travelling libraries country-wide, were some of the most successful programs, delivering books to people in rural areas. View on Ohio Memory.
