Description: Grandstand and race track at the Wyandot County Fair, with a crowd waiting in anticipation. Photograph by Harry Evan Kinley (1882-1969), a native of Upper Sandusky. Kinley was active in local events and organizations, and spent his professional career as a clerk at his father's department store, and later as a travelling salesman for the Marion Paper & Supply Company (1934-1962). He was also an avid lifelong photographer, and the bulk of the Harry Kinley Collection is comprised of glass plate negatives documenting the Kinley family, the city of Upper Sandusky and Wyandot County and surrounding areas. Description: Picture of the boat house at Olentangy Park. The boats used naphtha engines, a type of engine used to power small boats in the early 1900s. Olentangy Park was an amusement park that opened in 1893 by Robert M. Turner, originally called The Villa. It was bought in 1896 by the Columbus Street and Railroad Company, and then again by the Dusenbury brothers in 1899. The brothers constructed a theater, a merry-go-round, and other rides like Loop-the-Loop roller coaster. The property was sold again in 1926 to the Olentangy Amusement Company, then to Leo and Elmer Haenlein in 1929. At this point a zoo and a ballroom were added to the park. Olentangy Park closed in 1937 after being purchased by the L. L. Leveque Company. The Gooding Amusement Company bought the Ferris wheel, airplane ride, rifle range, and the carousel, which is now located at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The park was located along the banks of the Olentangy River in Columbus, Ohio, on land which, as of 2014, was owned by the Olentangy Village Apartments. View on Ohio Memory.

Olentangy Park was an amusement park established in 1880 in an area already popular for picnincs and swimming. It was considered the largest such park in the United States, featuring a formal picnic area, amusement rides, a carousel, a zoo, roller coaster rides, a boat house, a theater, and the world largest swimming pool. The park's prosperity started dwindling as a result of the depression and its rides and equipment were eventually sold out between 1937 and 1939. Description: Colored lithographic print titled “American Winter Scenes--Evening,” by Currier & Ives, showing couples in sleighs arriving to a party at a large home by a lake. During the mid to late nineteenth century, the Currier & Ives printing firm was a well-known producer of lithographic prints. Common subjects matter included historical events such as the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, the North American landscape, rural life in the United States and wildlife. Nathaniel Currier began his career in the printing business as an apprentice at a Boston printing firm in 1828, and opened his own printing firm in New York in 1835. James Ives joined the firm in 1852 as a bookkeeper, and was soon made a partner in 1857. They sold prints from their own New York shop and also distributed them through peddlers and country stores across the United States. Currier and Ives were both succeeded in the printing business by their sons, Edward West Currier and Chauncey Ives. Both sons eventually sold their interest in the firm, and in 1907 the last owner, Daniel W. Logan, closed the business and sold the printing equipment. View on Ohio Memory.
