Mohican State Forest became a state park in 1949 and was known as Clear Fork State Park until 1966. The area, which marks the southern boundary of the Wisconsinan glacier, contains the Clear Fork gorge and acres of old-growth forest. It has been named a Registered National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) had a camp at the forest in the 1930s. The CCC was created on March 31, 1933 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as part of his New Deal. The Civilian Conservation Corps hired unemployed American men between eighteen and twenty-five years of age to work on various government projects. These projects focused upon road construction, flood control, reforestation, and soil erosion prevention. CCC workers also improved or constructed local, state, and national parks. Description: This is a photograph of a map of Ashland County, Ohio, drawn in 1937. It shows points of interest, railroads, U. S. routes and state routes. It was drawn for the Ohio Writers' Program of the Work Progress Administration for possible use in the Ohio Guide. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Works Progress Administration by executive order to create jobs for the large numbers of unemployed laborers, as well as artists, musicians, actors, and writers. The Federal Arts Program, a sector of the Works Progress Administration, included the Federal Writers’ Project, one of the primary goals of which was to complete the America Guide series, a series of guidebooks for each state which included state history, art, architecture, music, literature, and points of interest to the major cities and tours throughout the state. Work on the Ohio Guide began in 1935 with the publication of several pamphlets and brochures. The Reorganization Act of 1939 consolidated the Works Progress Administration and other agencies into the Federal Works Administration, and the Federal Writers’ Project became the Federal Writers’ Project in Ohio. The final product was published in 1940 and went through several editions. The Ohio Guide Collection consists of 4,769 photographs collected for use in Ohio Guide and other publications of the Federal Writers’ Project in Ohio from 1935-1939. View on Ohio Memory.

Dudte, the Flxible Company first designed a motorcycle sidecard with a flexible connection to the motorcycle and designed its first bus in 1924. The company was originally called the Flexible Side Car Company, but intentionally misspelled the name in 1919 so that it could be copyrighted. The company declared bankruptcy in 1996 and this building is now used as a maintenance facility for Motor Coach Industries. View on Ohio Memory.
