Architect Howard Dwight Smith designed the plans for Ohio Stadium, earning him an award from the American Institute of Architects. Ohio Stadium was built in 1922 and is home to the Ohio State Buckeyes football team. This photograph depicts the dedication game against the University of Michigan, when the then-66,000 seat stadium was filled with about 72,000 fans. Kinley was active in local events and organizations, and spent his professional career as a clerk at his father's department store, and later as a travelling salesman for the Marion Paper & Supply Company (1934-1962). He was also an avid lifelong photographer, and the bulk of the Harry Kinley Collection is comprised of glass plate negatives documenting the Kinley family, the city of Upper Sandusky and Wyandot County and surrounding areas. Description: Race cars in competition at the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, 1962. The first All-American Soap Box Derby race was held in Dayton, Ohio, in 1934. The race was moved to Akron in 1935, when leaders in the Akron community saw the need for the race to have a permanent location. The Works Progress Administration began construction of Derby Downs in 1936. The national competition has been held there each August ever since. View on Ohio Memory.

Description: A view of the clubhouse at the Youngstown Country Club, Liberty Township, Ohio, ca. 1930-1939. The Youngstown Country Club was founded in 1898 as the Mahoning Golf Club in Youngstown, and many of the area's prominent industrialists joined as members, including James A. Campbell, Frank Purnell, and William C. Reilly of Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. In 1909, the Mahoning Golf Club purchased 131 acres in Liberty Township and began construction on a new golf course and clubhouse. In 1990, grass returned to Ohio Stadium. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Ohio Stadium went under a renovation. The university replaced the temporary stands in the south end of the stadium with permanent ones, closing the open "horseshoe." Skyboxes and a new press box were also added. The field was also lowered more than fourteen feet to make room for additional seating.
