Description: Governor A. Victor Donahey delivered a message to the General Assembly of Ohio on January 9, 1923, and the text of his message comprises 16 pages in a book of Donahey’s speeches. Donahey (1873-1946), a Democrat, was the first governor in Ohio history to serve three consecutive terms, which spanned from 1923 to 1929. As a Democratic governor working with a mostly Republican assembly, Donahey used his veto power liberally, vetoing tax increases, Ku Klux Klan bills and other legislation.
