Ohio Governors' State of the State Addresses
Description: Governor Charles Anderson delivered an annual message to the General Assembly of Ohio on Jan. 1, 1866. These 42 pages are included in part 1 of the 1865 Executive Documents. Anderson (1814-1895), a Republican, assumed the position of governor when John Brough died in office, and served during a five month period from 1865 to 1866. His term was not marked by any major events or legislation. Before becoming governor, Anderson studied law and commanded a volunteer regiment in the Civil War. View on Ohio Memory.
