Miscellaneous Fieldwork (Moorehead)
Description: An ungrooved ax, called a celt, made from granite. It is generally rectangular shaped, rounded at one end and squared with a sharp edge at the opposite end. The celt tapers slightly to the rounded end. The long edges are slightly flattened. It is mottled with light gray, very dark gray, olive gray and white. The sharpened end is more polished than the other surfaces. Item was found in Ross County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
