Hopewell Mound Group
Description: Bear canine tooth has a pearl inset at the root end of one side of the tooth. There are three holes drilled on one side. One hole is close to the tooth enamel. A second hole is in the middle of the root. Neither go all the through the tooth. The third hole is located at the root end and goes through the opening that holds the pearl. The pearl, which is white, has been drilled through the center. The tooth is very pale brown and light brown in color. A crack runs from the pearl to the end of the tooth, which is beginning to split. Item was excavated from the Hopewell Site in Twin Township, Ross County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
