Description: Celt (ungrooved ax) of igneous stone is roughly rectangular with one end rounded and one end sharpened. The sharpened end is ground and polished. It is greenish gray mottled with yellowish gray. The surface has a rough texture from the pecking process used to form the shape of the celt. Item was excavated from Redding Mound in Licking Township, Licking County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
