Ohio History Connection Archives/Library
Description: Original field notebook for the excavation of Seip Mound # 1, during the 1926-1927 season. The Seip Group of earthworks is located southwest of the village of Bainbridge in Ross County, Ohio. William C. Mills investigated the three conjoined mounds for the Ohio History Connection in 1905. The central mound was excavated during the summers of 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928 under the auspices of the organization, then known as the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society. A portion of that excavation is documented here. The author of this notebook is unknown, but refers to working "under the able direction of Mr Henry Clyde Shetrone." View on Ohio Memory.
