Miners' Relief Correspondence
Description: This broadside titled "Help the Suffering Miners" was circulated by the commissioners of Fulton County, Ohio to solicit donations to help the striking miners in southern Ohio. An appeal from R.M. Haseltine, chief inspector of mines, is printed on the broadside. Haseltine asks for donations of "flour, cured meat, beans, oatmeal, etc." The 1897 strike was one of a number of labor disputes between coal miners and mine owners in the Hocking Valley region between 1880 and 1940. The broadside measures 5.5" x 8.75" (13.97 by 22.23 cm). View on Ohio Memory.
