Ohio History Connection
Description: This glazed ceramic bud vase was made by Annie Glenn in 1953. The small vase has a round body and tall, thin neck. An applied ceramic vine wraps around the shoulders and spirals around the neck. There are three ceramic flowers on the vine at the shoulders and one at the rim. The vase has an allover white glaze with aqua overpainting. The vine is painted green and the flowers are painted yellow. The vase is signed "AG / '53" in aqua paint on the underside. Annie made this and other ceramic pieces while John was serving in Korea. Lyn and David Glenn, children of John and Annie Glenn, donated several items belonging to their parents in 2018. Many of the objects are from their household or are related to John Glenn's career as an astronaut and U.S. Senator. View on Ohio Memory.
