Description: Dated 1855-1860, this quilt made by Jean Emery Sprague in Boone County, Iowa, is made of silk ribbons that allowed admission to the Ohio State Fair in 1854. Blue ribbons form the centerfield of the quilt and red and blue ribbons alternate to form the border. The blue ribbon has a seal in the center and is marked "W. Riches, Design & Engle / Columbus, O." The red ribbon has a seal and is marked "OSF Dayton." A cloth label is attached with "L64.42.91." There is diamond quilting with princess-feather borders using red and blue thread. The back of the quilt is white. View on Ohio Memory.
