Stemmed Lanceolate Point   Save
Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Good Collection
Description: This basal fragment of a Stemmed Lanceolate projectile point is asymmetrical. One side preserves the original rectangular shape of the stem, which is indented only slightly (4 mm) from the blade edge. The other side has been resharpened on one face, removing the ear, possibly to salvage the broken point for use as a scraper. This piece is made of black flint and comes from the Late Archaic Period. People of the Late Archaic were hunter-gatherers, and were among the first in the region to make metal artifacts from copper found near Lake Superior. View on Ohio Memory.
