Governor Bob Taft portrait   Save
Ohio Governors Collection
Description: Robert (Bob) A. Taft, II (b. 1942) was Ohio's 67th Governor, serving 2 terms during 1999-2007. Taft expressed his desire to be known as "the education governor." Unfortunately for Taft and Ohioans, tight economic times made it difficult for the state to allocate more funds to education. Public universities saw a decreasing amount of funds from the state government, causing tuition to increase dramatically. Complicating the situation were tax cuts in the first years of Taft's governorship. View on Ohio Memory.
