Description: Guidon of the 13th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. Swallowtail flag measures 68 cm high by 101 cm wide. This swallowtail guidon of the national colors was used by the 13th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. The flag was manufactured in the United States between 1861 and 1863. The guidon has 34 gold-painted stars on a blue canton. The stars are arranged in a double-circle pattern with an additional star in each of the canton's four corners. The flag has thirteen alternating red and white stripes. A guidon flag, usually a swallowtail, is a type carried by artillery or cavalry company. View on Ohio Memory.
