Description: This is a photograph of a guidon of the 9th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. It is a swallowtail flag with a square blue field with 34 stars. The stars represent the states in the Union at the beginning of the Civil War. There are 12 stars in the inner circle, 18 stars in the outer circle and a star in each corner. This photograph is not cataloged. The 9th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry was formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1861. The men were primarily of German descent. They fought in the Western Theater of the Civil War.
