: Exterior view of the Rufus Putnam Residence in Marietta, Ohio. It was one of the dwellings in Campus Martius, the fortification erected by the Ohio Company, ca. 1790-1799. Rufus Putnam (1738-1824) served as an officer in the French and Indian War and also as a general during the American Revolutionary War. Putnam and his associates in the land company, the Ohio Company, are credited with being the first non-American-Indian settlers in Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
