Description: This grayscale image of Abraham Lincoln is from "The Pictorial History of the Great Civil War" by John Laird Wilson, ca. 1881. Lincoln's portrait is enclosed in an oval frame surrounded by abstract vine forms and tassels. The top of the frame has a small grouping of symbols: a quill pen, inkwell, a medal, as well what appears to be the first page of the Constitution, and a piece of paper with indistinguishable writing. A small rectangle beneath his portrait shows an illustration of eight men around a table, with "CABINET COUNCIL" at the bottom of the rectangle. A facsimile of Lincoln's signature can be seen on the bottom of the image. View on Ohio Memory.
