Description: This black-and-white photograph print is of of Civil War Major General Wager Swayne. A facsimile of Wager Swayne's signature appears at the bottom of the image. Swayne grew up in Columbus, Ohio, before joining the Union Army when the Civil War began. He eventually received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service, and was a prominent figure in Alabama during Reconstruction. This photograph is from a 24-page booklet, "Sketch of the Military Service of Major General Wager Swayne," by Major General Grenville M. Dodge, 1903. View on Ohio Memory.
