Description: This carte de visite photograph shows Union Major General John M. Corse. Corse is shown in a formal jacket that has a black velvet collar and shoulder boards. The jacket is unbuttoned, showing a shirt and tie underneath. A facsimile, possibly of Corse's signature, can be seen across the bottom of the card. Corse rose to the rank of Brigadier General during the US Civil War and was well-known for his success in securing Georgia's Allatoona Pass at the Battle of Allatoona.
