Description: Charles Stimmel of Mongomery County. Electrocuted July 22, 1904, for the Murder of Joseph Shide. Born in Dayton in 1878, he was associated with crime at a young age, allegedly part of a Dayton gang called the Cook gang. Stimmel shot and killed a store-clerk at the Allen & Eminger Company's Place while attempting to rob the store. After the murder, Stimmel fled from the police and was later found and captured in New Orleans. Back in Dayton, he was found guilty and sentenced to death by electric chair. View on Ohio Memory.
