Description: Manuscript handwritten on unlined paper by Paul Laurence Dunbar for an unpublished, untitled poem, whose first line reads "We had been friends, this maid and I." In the top right hand corner are written two columns of rhymes, and the last two lines are written at the very bottom of the page, leaving a large blank space in the middle of the poem.
