Description: 1890 book of Christmas stories by Washington Gladden. Contents include "Santa Claus on a Lark," "A Christmas Dinner with the Man in the Moon," "Tom Noble's Christmas," "The Strange Adventures of a Woodsled," "An Angel in an Ulster," "Mr. Halliburton Todd's Surprise Party," "Emil's Christmas Gift," and "Santa Claus in the Pulpit." Washington Gladden was a prominent minister, local politician and social reformer in late-19th and early-20th century Ohio. He served as pastor of the First Congregational Church in Columbus for 32 years, and in 1891, was a delegate to the international congress of Congregationalists in London. He was also moderator of the Congregational Church in America, helped settle an anthracite coal strike in 1902, and was known as a social reformer. View on Ohio Memory.
