Harry Kinley Collection
Description: The photograph shows five members of Harry Kinley's family standing on stepping stones in a river. Caroline Kinley (Harry Kinley's mother) stands on the furthest left, followed by Lucille Kinley Kuenzli (his daughter, appearing to be around age 6), Abbie Lowry Kinley (his wife), and John Neidhart (his nephew, also appearing to be around age 6). An unidentified man stands on the other side of John Neidhart. Both Lucille and Abbie have their hair bobbed. A tire swing hangs over the river behind them. The stones, placed in the river by early settlers, are now a part of the Stepping Stones Park in Upper Sandusky. Photograph by Harry Evan Kinley (1882-1969), a native of Upper Sandusky. Kinley was active in local events and organizations, and spent his professional career as a clerk at his father's department store, and later as a traveling salesman for the Marion Paper & Supply Company (1934-1962). He was also an avid lifelong photographer, and the bulk of the Harry Kinley Collection is comprised of glass plate negatives documenting the Kinley family, the city of Upper Sandusky and Wyandot County and surrounding areas.
