Wonderful World of Ohio
Description: This 1969 photograph shows a group of women workers at the Leisure Group factory in Medina, Ohio, posing with Flexible Flyer sleds. The Flexible Flyer, a wooden sled with steel runners and steering capability, was patented by Samuel Leeds Allen in 1889, but became much more popular beginning in the 1910s. The Leisure Group purchased Allen's company in the 1960s, and production was moved to Medina, Ohio, for several years before the toy division was purchased and production moved out of state.
