Description: Dated ca. 1860, this quilt made by Julia Hayden Marshall and Frances McClurg in Greer, Ohio, has rose and vine applique. The cotton quilt has four blocks of green, red, and orange roses, and buds and leaves on a white background. There is buttonhole stitching on the flowers and leaves and blind-stitching on the stems. In the white border, the quilting repeats the rosebud motif. The quilt has a green binding and the backing is white. View on Ohio Memory.
