Description: Friction hoist made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. The operator moved a long handle which forced the small drive wheel against the larger take-up wheel, turning the rope spool to raise or lower a load. This hoist was used by the Clinchfield Lime Company, Linville Falls, North Carolina, 1916. View on Ohio Memory.
