This photograph depicts Cincinnati Reds player, Lonny Frey, headed towards first base after his turn at bat on April 15, 1941. This was opening game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Crosley Field and Frey was the second batter in the lineup after Bill Werber. Lonny Frey (1910 - 2009) played second base for the Cincinnati Reds from 1938 to 1943 and in 1946. He was a vital part of the team as they won two consecutive World Series in 1939 and 1940. Frey was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 1961, and in 1969 was selected the Reds all-time second baseman. View on Ohio Memory.
