Description: Caption reads "Sitting room in old Huffman House - from Springfield folder." This photograph (ca. 1935-1943) is of the interior of The Jacob Huffman House, built in 1829. Jacob Huffman settled in the Springfield, Ohio area when his parents moved in 1802, from their native state of Virginia. His first home was a hewed log cabin, considered one of the best in the county. Jacob was a skilled stone mason and laid the foundations of many houses and barns throughout Springfield County, and eventually built himself a substantial stone home, notable in that it required no plaster for the interior.
