Description: This photograph shows an interior room with a fireplace. Over the mantel are several illustrations. On the left is a profile of Paderewski, and on the right is Rodzinski. In the center is a collage, the center of which reads: "Illustrations for the forthcoming Ohio Writers' Publication, 'The Poles in Cleveland'." Ignacy Jan Paderewski was a famous composer and pianist, who often visited Cleveland where he drew large crowds to his concerts. As well as music, he was also a great politician and became the third Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland in 1919. Artur Rodzinski was a Polish conductor and was involved with many orchestras. He was music director for the Cleveland Orchestra from 1933 to 1943 and helped develop it into one of the best in the country. Between December 1939 and February 1942, Rodziński and the Cleveland Orchestra made an extensive series of recordings for the Columbia Records label. View on Ohio Memory.
