: This is a nitrate photograph showing the Lewis Morley House, located at 231 N. State Street in Painesville, Ohio. Built in 1836 by prominent architect Jonathan Goldsmith, the home was restored in 2001. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978. Goldsmith (1783-1847) is known for his late Federal and early Greek Revival architecture elsewhere in Lake County and the Cleveland area, though this is the last of his homes still standing in this neighborhood. Many of his architectural drawings and papers are housed at the Western Reserve Historical Society. View on Ohio Memory.
