Description: This long, slender bone needle tapers to rounded point at one end, while the other end is convex. The eye of the needle, 3.65 mm in diameter, is drilled 11.9 mm from the rounded end. The needle is highly polished on both sides and is yellowish brown and dark grayish brown in color. This piece is from the Late Prehistoric Period. Several distinctive Late Prehistoric cultures are recognized in different parts of Ohio: Fort Ancient in southern and central Ohio; Sandusky in northwestern Ohio; Whittlesey in northeastern Ohio; and Monongehela in eastern Ohio.
