Taken from Eighth and Plum" Located 801 Plum St., City Hall occupies the entire block from 8th to 9th Sts, and from Plum St to Central Ave. A smaller building housed city council on the same site from 1852. Hannaford's Romanesque revival was dedicated May 13, 1893. Large stained glass windows by the New York firm Pottier Stymus & Co. depict the benevolent dictator Cincinnatus, the trials of early settlers, and Cincinnati as the Queen City of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Catawba Wine". Samuel Hannaford and Sons remains the most prolific and widely-studied Cincinnati architectural firm; a company register from the 1930s lists 1000 buildings completed, and Hannaford family members were active from 1857 to the post-WWII period. Description: This photograph shows the entrance to the Sandusky County Courthouse in Fremont, Ohio. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1844, designed by Cyrus Williams. It is located at 100 North Park Avenue. The building is built of brick and stone and features Grecian style architecture with Doric sandstone columns. In the 1930s, the original 1844 courthouse became the north wing, as an expansion was needed. The expanded central and south section are compatible with the older structure. The white octagonal cupola was moved from the original building to the center of the new structure. View on Ohio Memory.

Description: This is a photograph of the Morrow County Courthouse located in Mount Gilead, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historical Places on July 24, 1974. Morrow County, named for Jeremiah Morrow, was formed in 1848. Jeremiah Morrow was the ninth governor of Ohio and also served in the US Senate. Description: A photograph of the Hardin County Courthouse located in Kenton, Ohio. This building is the third courthouse to occupy the square in the center of Kenton, Ohio. The first two were lost to fire. The current one was built in 1915 at a cost of $275,000. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 21, 1979, and inducted into Ohio Historical Markers program in 1996. The structure is a double sided symmetrical building. This means that the north and west sides are identical to the south and east sides. It has been ranked by architectural historians as a fine example of neoclassical architecture. It has elements such as pilasters topped with Doric capitals and walls of dressed stone. The building occupies 2 acres of land. The architects were Richards, McCarty and Bulford. View on Ohio Memory.

The original courthouse was constructed in 1806, until space became an issue in 1858. Originally, the contract allowed for an expansion, but it was later considered too small for the population. Building on the new courthouse began in 1868 and it was completed in 1872. The cost was $138, 921. The architect was Jacob Orman. The building was constructed of locally quarried stone for the three storied building. The long arched windows line the facade, three on the front and nine on the sides and are separated by a pair of Doric pilasters. The main entrance is flanked by an inner Corinthian column and an outer Corinthian pilaster. The door is located inside a recessed portico and is topped by a fanlight. George and Guy Blair were the stone masons who built the Fairfield County Courthouse in Lancaster, Ohio. Blackhand sandstone, used for the construction, was quarried in Fairfield County. The building is of Renaissance-Romanesque style with a flat roof, wide bracketed cornice and curved windows with ornamental window hoods. The iron fence surrounding the building was made by the Eagle Machine Company. The keystone over the entrance to the courthouse is the carved stone face of Henry Ebner, the architect from St Louis.
