Description: The state seal of New York (officially adopted in 1778) surrounded by the words "The Great Seal of the State of New York." A banner reading Excelsior or “Ever Upward” hangs below. The center shield displays a masted ship and a sloop on the Hudson River, a grassy shore, and sun rising behind a mountain. Flanked by Liberty and Justice, the shield supports an American bald eagle sitting on a globe with wings outstretched. The flag measures 100 by 160 cm. It is made of cotton (textile).
