Description: Photograph of Aaron R. Fisher receiving an award for fifty years of continuous service in the Armed Forces. Aaron R. Fisher was a highly decorated African American soldier during and after World War I; he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Croix de Guerre, Purple Heart, Mexican Service Medal, World War I Victory Medal and Army Commendation Medal for his services. After his discharge, he served as an ROTC instructor at Wilberforce University. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1947. View on Ohio Memory.
