Description: This chamfering drawknife dates from 1850-1900. This tool is a drawknife specialized for use by coopers. It has one wooden and one iron handle, and is black in color. The Ohio Historical Society received this chamfering drawknife from Miss Margaret E. Lautenklos of Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio, in 1939. The drawknife belonged to her relative, Adam Lautenklos, who was one of a family of German coopers who settled in the United States in approximately 1845. View on Ohio Memory.
