Description: Canal plat map showing a section of the route of the Walhonding Canal through the community of Walhonding in Coshocton County between stations 226 and 338. The Walhonding River, bridges, stations, locks, properties and other landmarks along the route are also noted. The map was created under the direction of the members of the Canal Commission of the state of Ohio and approved by the Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Works (variously referred to as the Board of Public Works and the Division of Public Works). The Walhonding Canal was build between 1836 and 1842, and was used as a feeder canal for the much larger Ohio and Erie Canal. View on Ohio Memory.
