Description: Photograph of Mrs. John Harvey, who was involved in the Underground Railroad in Clinton County, Ohio. John Harvey was one of the first residents of Clinton County and Warren County, Ohio, to publicly advocate the abolition of slavery, and became one of the most prominent agents on the Underground Railroad in both counties. The image was collected by Ohio State University professor Wilbur H. Siebert (1866-1961). Siebert began researching the Underground Railroad in the 1890s as a way to interest his students in history.
