Description: Photograph of Governor James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt, ca. 1920. Cox was born in Butler County, Ohio, March 31, 1870. He served three two-year terms as Governor of Ohio from 1913-1915 and 1917-1921. In 1920, he was the Democratic candidate for President, but lost the election to fellow Ohioan Warren G. Harding. His running mate was Franklin D. Roosevelt. He died in Dayton, Ohio, on July 15, 1957. View on Ohio Memory.
