Description: This is a reproduction of a photograph depicting the barn where Richard Plummer concealed fugitive slaves, located at 63 Federal Street in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The barn is visible behind the left side of the house. The women standing at the doorway are not identified. The original photograph was likely taken between 1890 and 1910. The image was collected by Ohio State University professor Wilbur H. Siebert (1866-1961). Siebert began researching the Underground Railroad in the 1890s as a way to interest his students in history.
