Description: Rev. Theodore Parker (1810-1860) was a leading member of the Vigilance Committee in Boston, Massachusetts. The committee raised funds to pay the legal costs of those arrested for helping with the Underground Railroad. This cabinet card is from the photographer C.F. Conly on 465 Washington Street, Boston. The image was collected by Ohio State University professor Wilbur H. Siebert (1866-1961). Siebert began researching the Underground Railroad in the 1890s as a way to interest his students in history.
