Description: Engraving of the Twelfth Baptist Church in Boston, Massachusetts, also known as the Church of the Fugitive Slaves. It was erected in 1849. The engraving appeared in a book called "Anthony Burns: A History" by Charles Emery Stevens published in 1856. Burns was former slave and a Baptist preacher. His arrest under the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 caused riots and upheaval in the streets of Boston. The image was collected by Ohio State University professor Wilbur H. Siebert (1866-1961).
