Description: Modern photograph made from a glass plate negative depicting a display of relics of the Grand Army of the Republic from the Civil War at the Ohio Centennial Exposition in 1888. The Grand Army of the Republic was an organization of veterans who served in the Union Army. The Centennial celebration was in honor of the 100th anniversary of the first European settlers arriving in Marietta, Ohio, in 1788. It was held at the state fairgrounds in Columbus and formally opened on September 4, 1888. View on Ohio Memory.
